If the universe has no purpose, can our lives still have meaning?
Science suggests the universe wasn't created "for" anything - it just is. Some find this liberating, others find it unsettling. As pantheists who see the universe as sacred, how do we reconcile "no cosmic purpose" with "deep meaning"? Is meaning something we discover or something we create?
How would you respond to this contemplation?
I think about music. A song doesn't exist "for" anything in a cosmic sense. But when you hear one that moves you, the meaning is undeniable. Maybe the universe is like that - not made for us, but somehow made for experiencing. We're how it listens to itself.
